Still working on how to make best use of my space. I have sort of hit a wall with this so far. Might be time to just walk away from planning for a bit.
Joe- You have a good start to a trackplan. Maybe add some towns and rail-served industries to give the railroad a purpose and before you know it, you will have something to build! Scott
Scott, You are correct, I could just add Centralia at the why and be done with it. But I’m disappointed with the length of the run. I was envisioning a plan with a center peninsula of some type and am convinced I can fit it in my space, but I’m just not seeing it right now with out isles that are too narrow. Joe
Joe; Having family in both Columbia and Moberly, MO and being a former railroader just wanted to say I'll be following your progress. The Columbia Branch (now Columbia Terminal Railroad - COLT) was and is very interesting. Have you used Google/Bing maps to study the area. As you know from the MR Article, there were several interesting industries as you leave Columbia. Personally, I'd make the layout point to point for realism, but still retain the ability to run trains in a loop. Something on the order of putting a view divider to separate Columbia from Centralia. Just a thought. Nice work you're doing!
